Sept 4 & 12   5:30 – 7 pm  Crochet 102

Learn wrapped stitches:  half double crochet and double crochet as well as working in the round and how to read a pattern.  NOTE:  Students need to know how to chain and single crochet.  Students need to bring worsted weight yarn and a size H hook.

Sept 19 & 26   5:30 – 7 pm    Knitting 101  

Learn the knit stitch, how to cast on and bind off and about yarns and needles.  All supplies provided.

Oct 3    5:30 – 7 pm     Hats: Knitting in the Round  

Knitting in the Round is an alternative to using two straight needles and having to sew a seam, or to using double pointed needles.  Students need to know how to cast on and knit. Supplies needed: 16” circular needle size 13; 16” or 24” circular needle size 13; bulky yarn size 5 or 6.  There will be homework! Details will be sent to students upon signing up.

Oct 24   5:30 – 7 pm  Hats: Crochet  

For crochet beginners, the thought of crocheting a hat might seem like a complicated feat, but we promise you that it’s really easy to learn!  Students need to know single crochet and double crochet. Supplies needed: worsted weight yarn in a light color and size H hook.

Nov 7    5:30 – 7 pm   Knitting:  Last Minute Gifts  

Sign up for this class if you are looking for quick gifts and want to use your knitting skills!  Students need to know how to knit and purl. Supplies needed: worsted weight yarn in several colors and appropriate size needle.

Nov 17    1 – 3 pm   Knitted Knockers  

Knitted Knockers are special handmade breast prosthesis for women who have undergone mastectomies or other procedures to the breast.  Students need to be able to use double pointed needles or use the Magic Loop method (which will be taught in class). Materials: Magic Loop:  size 4 double pointed needles (2 needed) and a size 4 circular needle at least 24” long. Double Point method: size 4 double pointed needles. Yarn and pattern will be provided. This is an easy + to intermediate level class.

Regardless of your skill level, you need to check out these essential knitting tips and tricks to make your projects as successful as possible.  These ideas will also help you save time and add more fun to your knitting!s.

Mosaic knitting is one of those techniques that truly is easier than it looks. It offers a simple way to manipulate what is essentially striped knitting into a wonderful variety of decorative elements.  Students need to know how to cast on, knit and purl. Materials needed: 2-3 different colors of worsted weight yarn and appropriate sized needles.

Corner to corner crochet (c2c) is a technique that works just as it sounds–you crochet little “tiles” at a diagonal, increasing each row by one tile until your project is tall and wide enough, at which point you start decreasing each row.  Students need to know how to crochet. Supplies needed: worsted weight yarn and size H crochet hook.
