Knitting  Project: Hat + Fingerless Mittens:  Wednesday, September 11, 18    5:30 – 7 pm

Students need to know how to cast on, knit and bind off.  Materials needed: Circular needle size 13 – 16” in length, bulky weight yarn size 6, size 6 straight needles, light colored worsted weight yarn and tapestry needle.

Aug 20, 27 – Knitting 101:  Project –  Shawl/Scarf

Learn the basics of knitting and begin a simple fun project.  Learn the knit stitch, how to cast on and bind off and increase and decrease.  Bring $5 for needles and practice yarn (or bring your own).  The shawl/scarf can be knit with any sized yarn from fingering weight/sock yarn to worsted weight yarn and appropriate sized needles (check the ball band.)

Sept 10, 17 – Knitting 102:  Project – Reusable Produce Bag

We will build on the skills learned in Knitting 101 and begin a fun project. Bring your yarn and needles to practice the knit and purl stitches and learn how to knit in the round. Our project will help save the planet by cutting down on plastic bag use. Once you have knitted this reusable produce bag, you will want to knit more. Supplies needed for the bag: Yarn: Any yarn can be used but a light weight cotton yarn is best.  Needles: 2 circular needles sized 3 and 8 with a 16 inch cable.

A continuation of skills learned in the Crochet 101 class. Learn wrapped stitches, half double crochet and double crochet and how to read a pattern. Students must know how to chain and do the single crochet stitch. The second class requires skills from the previous week, so please plan to attend both. Supplies needed: light colored worsted weight yarn and crochet hook size H.

Supplies needed: light colored worsted weight yarn and needles size 6 or 8. 

 Knitting Project:  Soothing Comfort Shawl   October 22, 29

Students need to know how to cast on, knit, purl and bind off.  Materials needed:  Size 11 circular knitting needles at least 24′ long and 7 balls of bulky #5 yarn at least 95 yards each.
