LYS Day Specials! MORE Big Stitch Pictures!

So, we have a little something special to share…our head yarn pusher, Deb, has created this lovely crocheted shawl in honor of Local Yarn Shop Day! The yarn is from Cassie at @bigskyyarnco – her Southern Belle Collection. Now…we don’t have a name for this shawl…this is where you all come in. We are running a “Name That Shawl” contest, now through 4/24. Here are the rules: 1) Follow us on Instagram and Facebook. 2) Post your entry here. 3) Share with your friends and fellow crocheters so they can enter too.
We will select the winner and announce on LYS Day! Winner will receive a kit to make the shawl and a super awesome goodie bag from us at Bliss Yarns. Thank you so much for participating! Here are a few bits of info to help with ideas…
Colorways used – Peach Tea, Petit Fours, Hoop Skirt and Bliss. And, a happy side note…the entire Southern Belle Collection from Big Sky Yarn Co will be available in the shop on April 27! Bliss Yarns

We’re doing the Indigo Dye Workshop from 9-2

WORKSHOP: Dyeing to Knit the Blues!
Discover the magic of indigo, nature’s most soulful blue as you dye yarn for your own textile creations! We will be hosting local dyer Jan Quarles on Saturday, April 27th from 9 -2 for an indigo dye class. You’ll learn about the history of this magic blue and prepare and dye your own yarn for a project.  Drinks will be provided, you can either bring a sack lunch or pre-order a boxed lunch from Sweet T’s (about $8).
Cost for the workshop is $95 per person and includes: instruction, class handouts, gloves, all dying supplies, and one skein of Merino fingering weight sock yarn. Additional sock yarn … fingering weight skeins, mini skeins and sock blanks … will be available for purchase throughout the day. Class is limited to 12, and you must prepay to reserve your spot (we currently have 6 spaces remaining). Stop by or call the shop to register … 615.952.0110, or message us here with your phone number, we’ll call you back quick as we can!
We have special LYS Day yarns from several of our vendors (and some new ones!) Dream in Color (with 2 special LYSDay patterns free with yarn purchase), Mountain Colors’ new tweed yarn kits, Koigu’s LYSDay colorway (“Deep South”) and their LYS Pencil Boxes (these are pretty well irresistible), Brew City Yarns LYSDay colorway and a few of their kits. Jan will have her indigo pieces for sale again and we’ll have cookies and door prizes ($25 purchase required to register for the door prizes, cookies are first come, first served).  Free pdf patterns from KnittingFever’s online library (Ella Rae, Noro, Juniper Moon, Euro Yarns, Araucania, Queensland, Mirasol, Elsebeth Lavold) with yarn purchase.

We’re thrilled to host some of our favorite local makers who will be popping up inside Haus of Yarn to sell their wares from 10am-4pm. Shop their entire line, snap a selfie, say Hi!

  • Black Cat Bags – Vicki will have a fresh batch of her adorably cute, impeccably made and cheeky handmade project bags
  • Nutmeg Fibers – Meg will be bringing allllll of her naturally dyed yarn and dye kits
  • Old Rusted Chair – Lauren will be bringing alllll of her gloriously colorful hand dyed yarn
  • Camellia Fiber Co. – sadly, Silbia won’t be on hand — but she’s busy hand spinning a pile of her super bulky hand spun yarn for your shopping pleasure
  • Fringe Supply Co. – did you know most Fringe Supply bags are made right here in Nashville? We’ve got them, and Amazing DG will be here to talk your ear off about them if you have any questions
Join us and support your local LYS and local makers!!
We’ll have giveaways with purchases, snacks and awesome raffle prizes from each of the featured makers!

Dear Friends –

The Lebanon library has asked us about crochet classes.  A good day and time for them is Thursday at 1 or 2 pm.  If you can help with these classes please let me know.  kandctn@gmail.com

We have been busy this past week with library classes.  Crochet was taught at Edmondson, Inglewood and Richland Park.  Knitting was taught at Bellevue and Brentwood.  There were close to 50 students and most classes had a waiting list!  Thanks to all of the instructors who teach these classes.

And here is another thank you from one of our donors.

Good Afternoon Deborah,

I hope this email finds you well.  On behalf of Richland Head Start, I wanted to extend the most sincerest thank you for your donation of knithats.  Our children and families will greatly appreciate these creative hats.  We would love to continue a partnership with Knit and CrochetTennessee if possible. Again, thank you.
